Ballard, Dave
Ps 150:1-6. vs
6: 6 “Let everything that has
breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.” Dave says, “I feel this
is what God has asked me to do. I will be praising God for eternity and
have decided to start now.”
At 11 Dave knew he needed a Savior and in 2013, he re-devoted his life to Christ. He started at TriPoint in 1992, and stayed because he felt this is the church that met his needs. Dave has served in many capacities: Worship Team, sound equipment, participated at Tri-Point Ogemaw, Blessing of the Bikes, Custodian, church building and maintenance projects. Community service includes: churches, camps, retreats, nursing homes and the needy. Dave says, “I enjoy using my Acts of Service gift.”
Dave’s hope for our church is that we become more fully rounded, with solid leadership for an active Youth Group and Children Ministry.
Barnes, Shellie
Shellie met Jesus in Sunday School & VBS at about age 11. Romans 8: 28 reminds Shellie that perfection doesn’t exist, but God makes everything fall into place. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose".
TriPoint has felt like HOME to Shellie since 1986. She explored many areas of ministry within the church until she found the area to which she now feels most suited – greeting people and making them feel welcome. Other involvement included: teaching SS, VBS, Primetime, and women’s studies. Shellie has served on various committees. She has cleaned, cooked, landscaped, painted, decorated, and served according to the needs. She has also extensively served the community from school, to gardening seminars, to the Relief Sale and serving on the board of The Family Bookshelf.
Shellie wants to see our church continue to be a place where people feel welcomed, loved, and make TriPoint Church of God their HOME. She says, “we have all been given one life that's already equipped with gifts & talents to help make this world a better place and to help bring others to Christ in some way.”
Barve, Melissa
Melissa says that God always been in her life. As a teen, she surrendered, but in 2006 when she went through a time of multiple crises, she was ‘all in’!
Matthew 11:28-29 is especially meaningful to Melissa.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Melissa has been a member at TriPoint for 12 years, and has served in multiple ministries: Club 456, Youth, Kids’ Church, Kitchen. Additionally, as our custodian, Melissa feels she is serving the TriPoint body and the community by helping us share our building.
Larimer, Velma
Velma says she became a Christ follower in the 4th grade, after a revival services.
Her favorite verse is Isaiah 66:2 “This is the one I esteem; he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word" She feels it challenges her to know He is the Lord Almighty and she wants him to be pleased and in charge of her.
The Larimer family started attending TriPoint in 1997. In addition to caregiving her daughter with disabilities, she has served our church’s Bible School, Nursery and Children's Church.
Velma says, “I want our church to be recognized as a friendly church where everyone is welcome”.
Pattullo, Deb
Deb accepted Jesus as her personal savior at 15 through a co-worker who invested in her and shared Christ. It was a friendship with eternal rewards.
Deb joined TriPoint Church of God in 1995, drawn by the youth and children’s programs. She says, “We raised our two boys here and provided them with a supportive Christian environment to learn and grow. The church family has been a big part of our family.”
Matthew 16:24 speaks to Deb as a challenge to deny the world and seek the ways of Jesus. “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Putting that into action, Deb has served TriPoint and the community in many ways: SS Teacher for 2’s and 3’s, SS for Youth, Director of VBS, Leading Ladies Bible Studies, Worship Team (she says, “I love worship”!), Professional Counselor, and serves on the board of His Love Family Services.
Deb says, “I would hope to see us, as a church, equip our congregation to be in the world, but not of the world.”
Pattullo, Mark
As a young child, Mark decided to follow Christ. Then thirty years ago he started living for Christ.
Mark’s favorite scriptures. Hebrews 12. John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”. Philippians 2:33 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves”.
Mark has been at TriPoint for 26 years. Mark say, “TriPoint taught me the love of Christ and the freedom to worship openly”. Mark’s areas of ministry have included: Sunday School teacher, Christian Survivor program for boys 8-14, Building Committee, Worship Team, Missions Committee and Missions trip leader (Guatemala).
It is on Mark’s heart to see more diversity of leadership in the church, to help raise our level of evangelism.
Yoder, AJ
AJ has served TriPoint for many years, as usher, SS teacher, leader of small groups, building and maintenance projects, and more.
Favorite verses, John 3:16-17. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
AJ’s heart for our church is: “that we would be a beacon of hope in our world because we have experienced the love of our Heavenly Father; and that we will share this good news because of our gratitude to God. I dream of growing and maturing as a group of believers, of encouraging active children and youth ministry, developing young leaders and for all of us to develop our talents and gifts to honor our creator.”
